I love January. I love new years and the potential they hold. I have a brand new (and beautiful) planner and a few new (and beautiful) calendars up at work. I have a ton to do this year...wedding planning, projects, reading. And I’m all about making goals right now. I think I’m all about making goals in general.
Our biggest thing for January is our health. We both need to go to the doctor. We don’t really exercise and while we definitely enjoy food, we don’t enjoy enough veggies and we maybe enjoy too many baked goods and/or Italian food (which I didn’t think was possible before I was hired into my first absolutely sedentary job).
So. We’re making one doctor appointment each in January. I’ll have two more to go, so if I do one appointment a month, by April I should be all caught up with doctors for the year. I (really) hate going to the doctor.
We’re also reducing our meat intake and focusing on eating mostly fruits and veggies. I’m kicking off 2010 with a cleanse and a week (or three if I can do it) of not eating dairy or meat (protein is coming from tofu, soy milk, soy cheese, and eggs). That will be tough. We are also getting a membership at the local YMCA and we plan on going at least three times a week. Wish us luck and keep us honest!
I started reading Dracula and love it. It’s my kind of book...it’s dark and romantic and descriptive and old fashioned. And the narrator tells his story through his diary, so there’s plenty of charming detail. Love it. Here’s a quote: I read that every known superstition in the world is gathered into the horseshoe of the Carpathians, as if it were the centre of some sort of imaginative whirlpool; if so my stay may be very interesting.
Anyway, we’ll keep you posted on our progress throughout January in addition to our regular posting...and my baking post will resume next week!
Love, T.
