My knitting/crocheting group is really taking off! Our first meeting is next Thursday and I think everyone (especially me) is pretty excited. I really can’t wait to learn how to knit. We have someone teaching, people are bringing their existing projects to work on, and we’re all bringing patterns to swap.
Our 4th of July barbecue went well! We had great company, beautiful weather, and I think the food was pretty good too! We didn’t take a ton of pictures, probably because we were both busy getting the food out, but Casy remembered that we own a couple of cameras at dessert, so we at least have a picture of that.
Last night, Casy and I went to an event at a store called Scraptasia in New Providence. One of my coworkers, Shari, teaches classes there and she lets me know when she thinks there's a class I'll like. This one was a promo, called a Make and Take, for their Christmas line (WHAT?!?!)…so Casy and I made a cute little Christmas card, got a goody bag, ate some cookies, and called it a night!
You should have seen Casy. He sat across the table from me and all of the ladies were introducing themselves to him, encouraging him, congratulating him on his first card…it was really hilarious. At one point, he attached the tag to the card, which has a ribbon tied around it, then held it up and asked for scissors because he thought his ribbon was too long. And all of those ladies thought that was the most charming thing in the world. He’s too much.
I’ve been working on some crochet projects lately, but they’re gifts for people so I can’t put pictures up yet! Hopefully I’ll have them up early next week.
And, after about 10 years of thinking about it, I’m pretty sure I know what my ultimate dream is. I would like to own a yarn store. It will be on our property in one of the mid-Western states where we’ll also raise a few sheep to shear (maybe some rabbits and chickens too…but for eating, not shearing). I’ll spin and dye my own yarn, sell it (with bunches of others) in my shop, teach classes, host birthday parties, and raise babies. The end.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a business plan to put together.
Pictures?
Here is our dessert from the 4th of July. I made little star-shaped shortbreads and we ate them with strawberries, blueberries, and whipped cream:
