Casy is Here

This is my first "re-attempt" at bloggering. I kept what maybe have been a blog while in college. It has been many a moon since I last bloggerized that page and much has changed, while much stays the same. I have enjoyed T's blog posts and have been working out how I can occupy the same "digital space" as her. We have, at the same time, been working out how to occupy the same physical space. I hope my misspelled and made-up words fit as nicely with hers on our little blog, as I fit with her in real life.

Job status: Seeking employment

There is much to enjoy in the life of a suburban house maker. It is easy to stay abreast of happenings in the world. I have the time to try new things in the kitchen. I have the time and mental stamina to read. I do however find myself bored at times, but also realize that I need to re-learn how to entertain myself. Too much boredom would usher in guilty feeling as T works herself silly each day. Sleep has also come easier since I left NYC and the craziness of my work there. So what have I been up to?
I spent much of Monday trying out some recipes from my new cookbook.
Below you can see the Middle Eastern meal that I made from scratch. I am not really a baker but I really enjoyed making the pita bread. The dishes below are Cacik, Baba Ganoush, Tabbouleh and Hummus. You can see more pictures of the meal and other things at my web album.
I frequent the kitchen for more that just preparing and eating food. The kitchen chalkboard is the location of our to do list.
Yesterday my big project was to take down the old garden fence and build a new and improved one. The rabbits and deer were eating lots of our plants, especially the squash and zucchini.
Theresa was very pleased when I harvested the first cucumber from our garden.
Here are some photos of vegetables that will soon be on our table.
I am continueing my job search. I will comment on that further when there is something comment worthy. I will say that job hunting is surely no person's favorite endeavor.
I hope to in the very near future build some bookcases for our oversided accumilation of books. I have researched alot online and in books and have a pretty good idea of the kind of joints I will use. I have found the "Getting Started in Woodworking" section of the website of Fine Woodworking magazine really helpful. They have lots of educational videos and practice projects. One project happens to be a bookcase and it has given me ideas about how will approach my first one. I will hopefully have photos and reports of my beginnings in woodworking soon. I have to wait until my financial situation allows me to buy the few tools and lumber needed for the bookcases.

Love much,
Casy
