I made sauerbraten with kloss and red cabbage for dinner, Casy made an awesome gravy and onion pie appetizers, and John (who came to stay with us on Friday!) made a wonderful mulled wine. And then for dessert we ate lussekatter and gingerbread cookies with coffee.
It was a really nice ending to a strange week...
I got my hair cut by the sweetest stylist in all of New Jersey. We hit it off really well and she gave me a great cut...we kept the length, but she gave me bangs so it's still a little different.
While I was getting my hair cut, Casy was at his first North Star holiday party, eating Portuguese in the Ironbound and watching some competitive karaoke. He said it's just typical for this group to do competitive karaoke…God forbid they do anything that’s not competitive! But he had a good time and ate some great food, so he’ll toast to that. The next one is coming up soon and will involve a much smaller group of people and nothing competitive…yet.
I started tutoring my friend's son, HC, in French this week and it was a lot of fun. He's a good kid and he has a good head on his shoulders! Plus, it's a little extra saving money in the piggy bank...and my friend, who is pretty well connected in the community, might know a couple more kids who could use some French tutoring! So hopefully it'll turn into a neat little side business!
AND Dad quit his job with PCG. He'll be much happier at his new company, which makes me happy, but I'll miss him a lot! Most everyone at work has been super supportive, which is very sweet and appreciated.
What else?
We've been enjoying our new coffee table:
Remember St. Nicolas Day? Remember that we're supposed to get a little "trinket" in our shoes if we've been good? Well Casy got me the Max ornament that you saw in my last post. He also got me a rather large gift certificate to my favorite yarn store! So much for little trinkets! And you know what? It wasn’t nearly as hard to spend it as I thought it would be:
Here's Claude relaxing his little cat condo:
And our little damaged Wilbur, nursing on his favorite blanket from Grandma and Grandpa Fath:
Enjoy the rest of your weekends!
Love, T.
