Happy Thanksgiving!

Oh, Thanksgiving. How I love you.

This year was my year to learn how to do the turkey and I think it turned out pretty well for being my first! And I definitely was not without help…Mom was with me in the kitchen, coaching and taking beautiful pictures! The turkey was a small bird, 15 pounds, and she lived a wild and free life before she came to our table. How do we know she was a girl?

Here's the turkey process:

We all pitched in this year and made a dish...and then we stuffed ourselves silly on turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, rolls, pearled onions, corn casserole, and relish trays. Then we napped, read, and (I) crocheted. Pure heaven.

So. Giving thanks.

I’m always, constantly grateful for friends and family, having my basic and not-so-basic human needs met, having a job, living in the US, and for being healthy.

But looking back on this year, I am also specifically thankful for:
  • Having a partner. Casy and I have obviously been together for longer than this year, but getting engaged and moving in together has really solidified, for me, the feeling that we’re on this journey together. Coming to that realization is a process, a journey in and of itself, and it’s just incredible. I am so thankful to have this man next to me, that we balance each other out so well, that we support each other, and that we have such wonderful prospects and opportunities in front of us.
  • Finding knitting and crocheting. Okay, before you roll your eyes, I know how this sounds. But really. I am so grateful for this. It’s my meditation and my peace and I’m happy to have found it.
  • Wilbur. What a guy. I’m most thankful that he has chilled out in this last year, actually, and that we didn’t give up on him.
  • This blog, for allowing me to articulate and publicize my thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I think we'll probably look back on some of these posts like a photo album or diary...and that makes it so valuable.
Happy Thanksgiving to you all…our love and thoughts are with you.

Love, T.
